The distinction between a “website” and a “system” is often blurred in practice and should be based on one factor: whether the user has a state. If a visitor reads content and submits requests, it’s a website, measured by speed and conversion. If it involves login, history, roles, and dynamic data, it’s an application designed around the data model, not just layout.
We do both but clarify this upfront during project evaluation: clients who need a portal but pay for a landing page learn this only by the third month, making it the costliest project mistake.

Why choose a Next.js website over a site builder?
Site builders are faster to launch and cheaper initially but hit limits on speed, integrations, and code ownership—Next.js overcomes all three.
The difference emerges not at launch but in the second year. Builders deliver pages assembled in the visitor’s browser: scripts run before content appears, harming Core Web Vitals—key for Google ranking—and behavioral factors in Yandex, causing visitors to leave slow pages.
Second limitation: integrations. Connecting with 1C, custom delivery logic, and unique payment workflows are either cumbersome or impossible on builders. Third: ownership—you cannot take your site with you off the platform.
That doesn’t mean site builders are always unsuitable. If the goal is to test demand within a week, we say so; there’s no point in investing heavily upfront in a hypothesis that may not hold.
What exactly makes a website “fast” and why does speed matter for search?
Site speed is measured by three Core Web Vitals—LCP, INP, and CLS—and MetaByte integrates these metrics into development from day one rather than optimizing after launch.
Post-launch optimization is almost always costlier: delivering images at original resolution, fonts loading before text, or data requested post-render reflect architectural choices that require a complete rebuild.
In practice, best practices include server-side rendering instead of browser assembly, images in appropriately sized AVIF and WebP formats, fonts with font-display: swap and preloading, critical CSS in markup, and deferred loading of offscreen content.

Is SEO included in development?
MetaByte includes a technical SEO foundation by default in website development: semantic markup, meta tags, Schema.org, sitemap, robots.txt, speed optimization, and proper mobile functionality.
Separating "development" and "SEO service" is a way to sell twice what cannot be separated. URL structure, header hierarchy, and data markup cannot be added to a finished site without rebuilding it; they are either integrated from the start or not.
What genuinely counts as separate work and is not part of development is promotion: keyword research tailored to your demand, ongoing content creation, backlink profile management, and commercial factors. We clearly define this boundary and do not charge for what's included in the foundation.
What do you receive upon delivery?
Upon completion, you receive a functional website, the full source code in your repository, access credentials for hosting and domain, deployment instructions, and 30 days of free post-launch revisions.
The phrase 'delivering the code' can be vague if not detailed. Our delivery includes: a repository with complete commit history—not just an archive; environment variables with detailed descriptions; database schema; and build and deployment instructions verified on a clean system. This ensures anyone can continue the work, including developers other than us.

Delays are often caused less by screens and more by approvals and external systems: waiting for access to 1C or payment gateways can take longer than integration itself. Such milestones are separately noted in project plans to avoid silent delays.
Is it possible to migrate an existing site without losing rankings?
Yes, site migration preserves rankings if the URL structure is maintained or if permanent 301 redirects are properly set from old addresses to new ones.
Traffic loss during migration typically results from one of three issues: URLs changed without redirects, the new site accidentally contains indexing blocks from a test environment, or some content that ranked is missing. All are checked before switching the domain, not after.
Do you provide design services or work from existing layouts?
MetaByte creates designs in-house but also seamlessly works from your Figma layouts if you already have a design.
Who fills the website with content?
MetaByte handles the initial content upload; afterwards, the site can be updated via the admin panel without developer involvement.
