Codex Now Goes Where You Go: OpenAI Launches Mobile AI Coding Assistant

OpenAI finally did what every developer has dreamed of while coding on the subway or from a hospital bed. Codex, the AI that turns English into Python and back, is now available on mobile devices. Yes, you can fix bugs while waiting in line for coffee or generate SQL queries while lying on the beach.

What this means for developers:

• Ubiquity: Codex now runs on iOS and Android. Forgot your laptop? No problem, just whip out your phone and keep coding. Sure, the screen is tiny, but who are we to complain.
• Voice input: You can dictate tasks by voice. "Hey Codex, write a bubble sort function, but not a dumb one, with a flag." And it does it. Almost.
• IDE integration: Not yet, but planned. For now, you can use it as a standalone app.

Of course, this isn't a full IDE replacement, but for quick fixes or when your laptop battery is dead—it's perfect. OpenAI is clearly targeting the "freelance developer working from a Bali coworking space" niche. Or developers who like to code at 3 AM while lying in bed.
