Gmail thinks I'm stupid, so I left
The email client decided I can't tell spam from important messages — time to find an alternative.
A Hacker News user vented about Gmail constantly shoving important emails into the "Promotions" tab or, worse, spam. Meanwhile, marketing newsletters sail through. Sounds familiar, right?
He decided enough was enough and moved to ProtonMail. Now his inbox doesn't try to guess what he needs — it just works. Like a good old hammer: no AI, no "smart" sorting, just predictability.
Sure, migration is like reinstalling your OS: painful, tedious, but then you breathe easier. He admits missing Gmail's slick search for the first few weeks, but he got used to it. At least now he knows no critical email will drown in the digital swamp.
