The Serial TTL Connector We Deserve (and Won't Break on a Friday)
Finally, a Serial TTL connector that doesn't require soldering or a prayer to the electronics gods.

If you've ever tried to connect to a router or IoT device via UART, you know the pain: it's like assembling IKEA furniture without instructions — wires everywhere, pins popping out, and your breadboard looks like a battlefield. But a hero has emerged to save us from this madness.
A developer has created a Serial TTL connector that's simple, reliable, and — crucially — solderless. It's like moving from a French press to a Nespresso machine: quick, clean, and no risk of burning your fingers.
The design resembles a classic DB9 but is tailored for modern 3.3V and 5V logic levels. Contacts are spring-loaded, and the housing has a latch. No more "oops, I swapped TX and RX" at 2 AM. Of course, if you manage to plug in 12V, even this connector won't save you. But that's a user error, not a design flaw.
The project is open source, with schematics and 3D models on GitHub. So if you have a 3D printer and some free time, you can print your own. Just remember to ground yourself — static electricity is still a thing.
METABYTE studio's comment: We were just struggling with UART on a custom device — now we'll print these connectors in bulk. Though our 3D printer seems to be sulking and demanding calibration. But that's a story for another day.
