C++26 Now Knows That 5 Meters ≠ 5 Seconds
C++26 introduces quantity-safe analog literals — a library that prevents mixing kilograms with amperes. Finally, the compiler will scold you for your culinary experiments in code.

You know that feeling when you're sure you're passing meters, but the function expects seconds, and suddenly your satellite is on the wrong orbit? The C++ committee folks know it too — and apparently got tired of reading accident reports. So in C++26 (yes, they're already there), a new feature appears: quantity-safe analog literals.
The gist is simple: you write 5_m, and the compiler understands it's meters. If you try to add 5_m and 3_s, it will politely (or not) tell you to read the docs. No implicit conversions, no "oops, I thought those were feet." Everything is strict, like a Swiss bank, but for units of measurement.
Under the hood, it's template magic that turns dimension-less literals into type-safe quantities. The developers promise no performance impact: the optimizer will strip all wrappers, leaving bare numbers. But the main win? Your CI pipeline will now fail not only because of a missing semicolon, but also because you tried to add volts to liters.
Of course, you might say, "Why bother? My code works fine." But if you've ever debugged a bug where the speedometer showed miles per hour instead of kilometers, you'll appreciate it. Especially if that bug cost you a late-night deploy.
