Imagine you want to split a chocolate bar with a friend, but without revealing your pieces to each other. That's essentially what Beaver Triples do — a magical triangle that lets multiple parties compute something together without exposing private data.

If you thought homomorphic encryption was complex, Beaver Triples are like IKEA furniture: you can assemble them with instructions, but without them, it's a nightmare. In reality, they're pre-generated triples of numbers used in secure multiparty computation (MPC) protocols. They allow efficient multiplication of secret values without revealing them.

How It Works (No Magic Involved)

A Beaver Triple consists of three numbers: a, b, and c, where c = a * b. But a and b are random, and no one knows them fully. Each participant gets a "share" of these numbers. When they need to multiply two secret values x and y, they use the triple to compute the product without reconstructing x and y. It's like ordering a pizza where each person knows only their slice, but together you know it's a Margherita.

Where It's Used

Beaver Triples are the backbone of many MPC protocols, from fintech to secure voting. They save computational resources but require pre-generation. And yes, like any good tool, they can be a bottleneck: generating a million triples is not for the faint of heart.
