Discord Down: A Day of Silence for Guilds and Tears for PMs

Devs scratched their heads and realized: no Discord means work stops and nowhere to send junior jokes.

Discord Down: A Day of Silence for Guilds and Tears for PMs

While Discord was wrestling with another server incident, developers worldwide suddenly remembered that phones still exist. According to the status page, issues started around 16:00 UTC and affected both messaging and voice channels.

What happened? Discord officially acknowledged problems with API and webhooks — basically everything that powers CI/CD notifications, deploy pipelines, and endless memes about bugs. The team said they found the cause and are working on a fix, but didn't give an ETA — probably to keep up with IT industry traditions.

Who feels the pain?

  • Devs who integrated Discord bots into their projects (hello, new issue notifications).
  • Game server owners whose guilds have gone into hibernation.
  • Those who just wanted to throw gifs into the general chat — and realized how dependent they are on one messenger.

Slack and Telegram are already rubbing their hands, but we all know: Discord will be back, and everyone will rush to voice channels to discuss refactoring.

METABYTE studio's comment: Discord is like office Wi-Fi: when it works, nobody notices, but when it goes down, chaos ensues. We use it for team and client communication too, but always keep backup channels. Have you set up status alerts via webhooks yet?
