Anthropic has unveiled Claude 3.7 Sonnet — their smartest model yet, capable of switching between instant responses and extended reasoning. Developers no longer have to choose between speed and depth: the model decides when to think longer.
What's new?
- Hybrid mode: standard answers (like Claude 3.5 Sonnet) and extended thinking for complex tasks — math, physics, coding.
- Claude Code: a command-line tool that lets developers delegate routine tasks to AI directly in the terminal. Works in agentic mode: searches, edits, tests code autonomously.
- Availability: model is live on all Anthropic platforms, API, Amazon Bedrock, and GCP Vertex AI.
The key feature — Claude Code doesn't just suggest, it actually executes tasks: from refactoring to deployment. The developer describes the problem, and the AI navigates the codebase, makes changes, and runs tests. It's like hiring a junior dev who never asks dumb questions and works 24/7.
