Cartoon Network Flash Games Museum: Relive the Lag, Forget the Plugin

Remember when the web smelled like a 56k modem and browsers lived by "install Flash or die"? Web Design Museum just dropped a collection of Cartoon Network Flash games we used to play during computer class instead of learning.

Now they're museum exhibits. Like dinosaurs, but with .swf files that modern browsers refuse to open without a Ruffle emulator dance. But if you want to relive Billy & Mandy maze runs or the Iron Giant smashing stuff – here's your chance.

What's inside?

The collection features dozens of games based on Cartoon Network hits: Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, The Angry Beavers, and more. Graphics – classic pixel art, gameplay – "press space to not die" level. Perfect for explaining to kids why we didn't care about "graphics" and were happy with three frames per second.

Sure, it's not a game dev revolution. But devs might find it useful to see how games worked in the era before frameworks – just ActionScript and prayers. Also, a great excuse to reminisce about times when bugs were features, not reasons for a 3 AM hotfix.

METABYTE studio comment: We started with Flash too, but now our games run on anything from fridges to smartwatches. Sometimes we miss launching an old project and hearing "To view this content, install Adobe Flash Player." But no thanks, we'll stick with WebGL.
