Claude Opus 4.8: Another AI Upgrade That Promises Everything, But At Least It's Funny

Anthropic is at it again: meet Claude Opus 4.8. The devs swear the new model is 20% smarter, 30% faster, and hallucinates 40% less. Pretty numbers — like a client promising the project will be done in a week.

In practice, this means better long-context handling, fewer made-up facts, and faster code generation. But if you hope it'll stop confusing Python with JavaScript — sorry, miracles aren't on the roadmap.

What's new?

• Improved context window up to 200K tokens (now you can feed it your entire JIRA board and get a coherent response).
• 40% fewer hallucinations (still enough to amusingly explain why your code doesn't work).

Of course, it's no silver bullet. The model can still spew nonsense, especially if the prompt is "build me a startup in one evening." But for daily tasks — refactoring, documentation, test generation — Claude Opus 4.8 is a decent companion.
