Andrej Karpathy Joins Anthropic — Making AI Not Just Smart, But Safe?

Andrej Karpathy, the guy who once taught neural networks to drive cars and write poetry, has switched teams again. This time, he's joining Anthropic — the company that's all about building AI with human values.

For those not in the loop: Karpathy is basically an IT rockstar. He's worked at OpenAI, built self-driving tech at Tesla, and even hung out at Google Brain. Now he's going to work on AI that not only generates Shakespeare but also doesn't try to take over the world.

Anthropic is known for its focus on AI safety. They develop models that follow ethical guidelines and don't lie, even when it's convenient. With Karpathy on board, their team just got a serious upgrade.

What does this mean for us regular developers? Maybe we'll soon see new open-source models that are not only smarter but also more honest. Until then, let's wait for memes about Karpathy teaching AI the difference between good and evil.

METABYTE studio comment: We're glad folks like Karpathy care about AI safety. Otherwise, our projects are starting to get a bit too clever for their own good — time to teach them some manners.
