How I Documented an Entire Product in 4 Days with an AI Agent (and Kept My Sanity)

Documenting a product is like flossing: everyone knows they should, but nobody does until it’s too late. When I faced 55 pages of documentation, 59 screenshots, and a product still in flux, I seriously considered a career change. Instead, I hired an AI agent. And guess what? It finished in 4 days.

Here’s the setup: I fed the agent the product description, screenshots, and a couple of examples. Then it autonomously generated text, captioned images, and even flagged outdated sections. It felt like magic, but really it was just a well-crafted prompt and some patience. Of course, it wasn’t perfect – the AI sometimes confused button colors and wrote gems like “Click the blue button to save” when the button was green. But overall, 80% of the work was done.

The biggest win? Speed. A human dev would take weeks, constantly context-switching. The agent doesn’t slack off, doesn’t check notifications, and doesn’t say “I’ll finish this later.” The downside? It lacks deep product context. Obvious bugs or legacy quirks? It won’t catch them. You still need a human reviewer.
