1D Pac-Man: When Game Dev Becomes Math

Remember trying to draw Pac-Man on a piece of paper as a kid? Now imagine the entire maze is just one line. That's exactly what Japanese developer Aba did, creating a one-dimensional version of Pac-Man.

How does it work?

The game is a horizontal strip where Pac-Man (a dot) runs, and ghosts (other dots) try to catch him. All you need to do is press space at the right time to turn around and eat the coin-dot. Sounds simple? Until the speed goes cosmic.

Actually, this is a great example of reimagining a classic using minimal resources. For developers, it's a reminder: sometimes complex mechanics aren't needed—just a single idea and clean code.

METABYTE studio comment: Sometimes the best projects come from constraints—like this 1D Pac-Man. If you have a prototype that feels 'too simple,' don't be afraid to show it to the world. We can help turn it into a full-fledged product.
