SONANCE · ESTABLISHED 2024 · LISBON ● 18,420 listening · right now VOL 24 / SPRING ISSUE

Lossless music
for people who actually
stream listen.

No "discover weekly" of the same six artists. No engagement-bait algorithms. Just 47,000 hand-shelved records in 24-bit / 96kHz, with rooms for late nights, slow mornings, and the long drive home.

Records the shelf-keepers are
obsessing over right now.

Every album is added by a person — usually after they listened to it three times on a Sunday afternoon. No labels pay to be placed. Ever.

A room is not a playlist. A playlist is for parties. A room is for after.

Hi-fi isn't a feature — it's the floor.

01 / FIDELITY

24-bit192 kHz max · DSD on select records

Every record on Sonance is stored at the studio master quality — no transcoding, no MP3 fallback, no "smart bitrate." You hear what the engineer signed off on.

02 / PAYOUT

€0.064per stream · 8× the streaming average

We pay artists from a flat per-listener pool, not a leaky pro-rata pool. Listen to a small artist three times — they get paid for three listens, from your subscription.

03 / CURATION

14human shelf-keepers · no algo-feeds

Each Listening Room is built and updated by one named person whose name you can read, who you can email, who answers. No "AI for you" surface anywhere.

04 / DEVICES

11native apps · iOS · macOS · Android · Sonos · etc

And we wrote the AirPlay/Sonos/Bluesound integrations ourselves, so they pass full-fidelity instead of resampling. Your DAC actually sees 24-bit.

Pick the room,
not the playlist.

Each room is hand-shelved. Some are built around a city at 2am. Some around a single album that demanded eleven more. None of them are "Top 50 Global."

The obvious
questions, asked
back to us.

Anything missing — write to hello@sonance.fm. A person whose name will be at the bottom of the email will write back, usually within a day.

Is the catalog actually large enough?+

47,000 albums — about 580,000 tracks. Smaller than the supermarkets, larger than every record shop you've been in put together. We pass on anything we wouldn't shelve.

Where's the algorithmic feed?+

We don't have one and we're not going to build one. You'll discover music the same way you always did — a record someone shelved, played in a room you walked into.

Will my DAC actually receive 24-bit?+

Yes — we wrote the AirPlay/Sonos/Bluesound integrations ourselves, with the manufacturers' API teams, so nothing is downsampled along the way. Verified bit-perfect on 11 devices.

How much do artists actually see?+

From a €12 subscription, the artists you listened to that month split €5. Roughly 8× what the big platforms pay per stream. We publish the receipt every quarter.
